- 3-Hour Course

Prerequisite Course(s): Safety Class
This is an introductory course for youth shooters including classroom and range time with semi-automatic pistols. The range portion of course will be supervised by a Range Safety Officer, the instructor, and the parent(s) of the student. The firearms will be .22 LR caliber so as not to discourage the new shooters with a large amount of recoil. Students learn rules for safe firearm handling, pistol parts and operation, ammunition, shooting fundamentals, range rules, two handed standing positions and technique for improved skill level with accuracy. This course is for age 12-18 with a total run time of 3 hours.
Basic Youth Gun Safety class will teach students the basic operation of a .22 rimfire rifle, shooting fundamentals, cleaning and storage, and range rules and etiquette.
The instructor will also discuss replica guns, airsoft guns, pellet guns, etc., and students will try to identify photos of real guns vs. replica guns. The same safety rules apply when dealing with replica guns, and the orange barrel tips should never be covered or removed. Students are also advised on what to do if they are ever contacted by Law Enforcement.
The Basic Youth Gun Safety course is taught in a way and in language kids can easily understand. Class sizes are limited to six students to create the opportunity for more personalized instruction.
**A parent or guardian is required to attend with the student (at no additional cost).
**Ammunition must be purchased in advance so arrive early enough to check in and purchase needed materials.
