We receive multiple packages a day and staff will get to yours as quickly as possible and contact you WHEN ready to be picked up.

(We will call and leave you a voicemail if you do not answer- we will ALSO email you to let you know you can come into the store and complete your 4473 & background check)

  • STEP 4:  Come into the store (Open 6 days a week) Bring your ID/or TX DL and/or TX LTC, complete an ATF 4473 form and pay the $39.99 transfer fee when you pick up the firearm.

General Information:

Definitions:

  • FFL (Federal Firearms License)– provides legal authorization for a dealer to engage in the intrastate & interstate sale of modern firearms.

  • NICS (National Instant Criminal Background Check System)– regulatory division of the FBI that verifies legal eligibility for firearms purchases.

  • “Straw” Purchases– an illegal firearm purchase where the actual buyer of the gun, being unable to pass the required federal background check or desiring not to have his or her name associated with the transaction, uses a proxy buyer who can pass the required background check to purchase the firearm for him/her. It is highly illegal and punishable by a $250,000 fine and 10 years in prison.

  • BLIND Transfer: A transfer of a firearm or NFA item that the customer and/or the transferee/business did not call, email or fax the required information PRIOR to the firearm arriving to Crosshairs Texas.

  • Received BLIND transfers are $79.99 each transferred firearm/NFA item.

FFL Transfers Allow a Firearm to be legally bought or sold over the internet

  • While there are exceptions to the Gun Control Act of 1968, the person taking possession of the firearm is required to pass an FBI NICS background check.

  • In addition, some jurisdictions may have additional processing requirements such as state or local criminal history / substance abuse / psychiatric background checks. Others actually have mandatory firearms registration & licensing.  (Click Here to view “Legal Restrictions & Requirements…States w/ Restrictions”).

No Gun Registration or Licensing in Texas

  • Once the FBI NICS background check has been approved and you have paid for your transaction, you are clear to take the firearm.

  • The NICS background check is not the same as registration.

  • The FBI NICS background check simply confirms that you are a legal purchaser.

  • In addition, a Texas CHL will bypass the NICS requirement, though the purchaser must still complete an ATF form 4473 to take the firearm.

Most States Allow privately held firearms to be shipped directly to an FFL in another state for transfer

  • A private individual in most states (like Texas) can legally ship their gun directly to an FFL in another state for legal transfer.

  • Please consult all local, state and federal laws before selling or shipping any firearm

Selected Jurisdictions Mandate all firearm transactions take place between FFL’s

  • Such jurisdictions may even have additional firearm registration, licensing, criminal history, psychiatric or substance abuse requirements (Click Here for FAQ’s— see “States w/ Restrictions”).

  • Specifically, individuals in some jurisdictions may be prohibited from shipping their firearm to an FFL in another state for final transfer. Therefore, the transaction must be FFL to FFL.

FFL Transfer Regulations in Texas (firearms transferred over-the-counter):

  • Crosshairs Texas may ONLY transfer guns over-the-counter to eligible purchasers.

  • “Eligible” purchasers are those individuals that successfully pass the NICS background check, or have a valid Texas Concealed Handgun License.

  • To be “eligible”, the purchaser does not have state, local or federal laws that prohibits the possession or transfer of the firearm.

  • Handguns may only be transferred over-the-counter to a Texas resident.

  • Rifles or shotguns may be sold or transferred over-the-counter to an out-of-state resident, provided there are no restrictions against it.

  • We may not mail firearms transactions to a home or business that is not an FFL.

  • By federal law, all FFL transfers must take place in person.

A Signed Copy of Your Transfer Dealer’s FFL is the fastest & easiest way for Crosshairs Texas to perform FFL transfers

  • For reasons of speed & simplicity, Crosshairs Texas humbly requests an exchange of licenses between our store and your FFL ( email: transferschtb@gmail.com).

Gun Transfers from Non- FFL’s- sorry, we do not provide copies of our FFL to individuals

  • To confirm that we are a valid FFL, please Click Here to access the ATF’s online FFL database. Then, enter the first 3, and then last 5- digits of our FFL (provided upon request at the time of transfer via email).

Straw Man Purchases- are illegal and will be refused by Crosshairs Texas

  • Specifically, the purchaser (named on the invoice) must be the person legally taking possession of the firearm– and no one else.
